Gasoline is for engines, not head lice treatment
We had a call just the other day where the person was getting ready to use gasoline as a head lice treatment remedy. I can’t stress strongly enough that no one should ever use gasoline, kerosene, or anything else flammable to try to eradicate their head lice infestation. This is an extremely dangerous practice, and has resulted in some very sad stories of people accidentally setting themselves on fire:

I love to receive feedback from clients about how effective and useful our service and information has been for them during their head lice dilemma. We actually get these emails quite often, but it never gets old. We just received the following email from a happy client, which really spells out what LouseCalls is all about. Of course, our primary objective is to remove head lice, but just as important is educating clients on the facts of lice, so they are more confident and knowledgeable going forward.
Nothing defeats head lice like the right lice comb
No matter what you read online, or what someone may tell you, no current head lice treatment effectively kills the lice eggs (nits) . Yes, there are some new technologies and treatments that have been shown to kill nits in studies, however, in our opinion, the kill rate falls below a percentage level where we feel comfortable advising clients that they can depend on the treatment alone to ensure they are lice free. At the end of the day, if you still have live nits… you still have head lice.
To be honest, nothing beats the good, old fashioned lice comb. The only way to be 100% certain that an individual is lice free, is to make sure that 100% of the bugs and nits have been manually removed from the head…. And the only way to do that is by using a good lice comb.

Poor communication may lead to head lice re-infestation
In honor of the new No More Louse-y Days® Blog, which is our attempt to openly communicate the true facts of lice to the world, we thought it would be appropriate to write our first real blog post about how important it is for you to openly communicate during a head lice event.
Trust us, we know openly communicating is hard when it comes to head lice. People still have an irrational feeling of embarrassment and shame when they learn that someone in their family has head lice, and the result typically causes people to keep the news hush, hush.

Simply put, we talk to people every day who are at their wits end, and are confused about the true facts of lice. They call us after reading all kinds of conflicting information on the internet regarding how treat their family for head lice, and simply don’t know which way is up anymore. We felt it was time for a sane voice you can trust to dispel all those crazy head lice myths and misinformation you see online.
